General Description
The Choir Director is responsible for providing leadership in the area of choral music. The Choir Director will develop a worship choir capable of singing songs from a wide variety of musical styles, both traditional and contemporary.

Supervision: The Choir Director is under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor.

Essential Job Functions
Maintain and develop a choir capable of singing weekly at the 9am worship service in a variety of musical styles, including traditional and contemporary Christian music.
Direct the choir during weekly Sunday worship service, and lead weekly scheduled rehearsals.
Work with the Pastor and in planning major musical events (i.e., Christmas Cantata, Christmas Eve, Easter Cantata and Holy Week, and summer high season special events).
Work collaboratively with the Pastor in the selection of choral music that enhances the worship experience, in a wide variety of musical styles.
Recruit new choir members each year from within the overall church body.
Provide information to the church office on musical selections for each week.
Purchase choral music within the annual budget, and monitor music licenses purchased by the church, submitting the appropriate payment requests for music and licenses.
Replace the accompanist when he or she is unavailable, either personally or with guest musician(s).
Coordinate with the Pastor on Sundays that you are not directing; prepare, music selections and guest musicians.
Execute recurring maintenance tasks on the grand piano, including weekly watering, semi-annual tunings in before summer high season and the Advent season.

Physical Environment
Some duties may be performed remotely.

Experience Requirements
A commitment to growing in their faith.
Knowledge of a wide variety of musical styles with the ability to teach these styles to the choir.
Willingness to work cooperatively with the Pastor and members of the staff.
Possession of effective interpersonal communication skills.
Possession of good organizational skills.
Maintains a positive attitude.

Hours
10-15 Hours per week. Extra hours may be needed around major musical events.
