Music Ministry Coordinator

Part Time Position:  8-12 hours per week August through May; 2-4 hours per week during June and July.

Benefits for this position will include:

Vacation: 2 weeks – consisting of 2 Thursdays and 2 Sundays off with pay.

Personal Days: 4 personal days to use at your discretion for Sundays off in June and July.

Professional Development:  Up to $700 may be used for professional development classes and workshops

 

Generally speaking, the Music Ministry Coordinator supports the spiritual life of the congregation by cultivating and developing music offerings that enrich worship and church activities. The Music Ministry Coordinator will engage in collaborative planning with Clergy, Keyboardist, and lay leaders, direct choirs, expand and select repertoire, coordinate with musicians in the church and wider community, and offer opportunities for participation by people of varying ages, abilities, and musical backgrounds.  The position includes planning and practice time.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Select music for the choir based on scripture/themes provided by Clergy.
  • Rehearse and conduct the choir weekly mid-August through May.
  • Lead music in worship, including special services during Holy Week, Advent, Christmas, and Thanksgiving.
  • Plan and participate in agreed-upon collaborations for a special music event, which may include additional rehearsals.
  • Invite, encourage and offer opportunities for participation in vocal and instrumental music ensembles (i.e hand bells, African drum circle)
  • Attend monthly staff meetings with Clergy, Keyboardist, and other worship leaders.
  • Provide information for weekly bulletins.
  • Schedule summer worship music when choir is not in session.
  • Expand, organize and maintain music library.
  • Develop and maintain database of persons with musical interest and gifts.
