2024 SUMMER WORKSHOP - July 22nd - 24th

Kol Nashim, (lit. “Voices of Women”) the treble choir of the Colorado Hebrew Chorale, is a non-auditioned chorus based in Denver. Working under the aegis of the Colorado Hebrew Chorale, Kol Nashim shares the same mission: to preserve,  promote, and celebrate the music of the Jewish experience by performing for diverse audiences, with an additional emphasis on women’s concerns. Since its founding in 2013, Kol Nashim has concertized throughout the community, culminating in  an annual “Woman to Woman” program each spring, which presents a curated repertoire reflecting domestic and personal concerns while also educating audiences about the Jerusalem Shelter for Battered Women and Children.  Following the retirement of its founder and music director, Leah Peer, Kol Nashim is now in an active search for the position of Director.

Regular rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. , with approximately 3 – 4 performances during the year. The successful applicant will be expected to be in attendance and prepared for all of the functions described above.

Responsibilities of this position include leading and directing Kol Nashim in all aspects, including concert programming and artistic and creative endeavors, and working with the board and leadership of the Colorado Hebrew Chorale in related administrative and organizational matters.

Desired qualifications/skills include: a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in music with conducting, music education, or voice emphasis; significant experience conducting choral ensembles; willingness to collaborate as part of an artistic team; and an energetic and positive personality with good communication skills.

This is a part-time position requiring approximately 5-8 hours per week. Salary range: $7,000-$8,000.
