Liberty High School Choir Collaborative Pianist (Colorado Springs)
The Liberty High School Choir Program is looking for a pianist who loves to work collaboratively in both Western Classical and Jazz traditions. We are seeking an experienced pianist who enjoys working with high school age singers and can swing. The collaborative pianist will accompany the Beginning Tenor/Bass, Beginning Treble, Advanced Treble, Mixed Chamber, and Jazz Choirs. The position is full time in a school and community that loves and supports the performing arts.
Standard schedule is 7:30 AM -3:00 PM Monday-Friday, flexibility permitted.
Position duties:
- Accompany Beginning Treble, Beginning Tenor/Bass, Advanced Treble, and Chamber choirs during rehearsals by reading sheet music and following conducting
- Accompany Jazz Choir during rehearsal by reading sheet music, comping chord changes, and improvising
- Read open-score choral music to assist with note learning
- Accompany choirs during quarterly choir concerts and field trip performances
- Lead choir sectional rehearsals
- Build relationships with singers
- Support director with administrative tasks as needed i.e. organizing choral library, preparing choir folders, taking attendance etc.
